On March 13, 2018, our guest speaker will be Dwight Wells. Dwight has several decades of beekeeping experience. He is an officer in his local bee club as well as a founding member of The Heartland Honey Bee Breeders Cooperative, which is currently collaborating with Purdue University in their queen bee breeding program.
Dwight is also active in varroa mite management, giving presentations in Ohio and throughout the midwest on this topic. He is a Regional Director with the Ohio State Beekeepers Association, and Vice President of the Buckeye Queen Producers.
Dwight’s program will be ‘‘Creating Nucs With Locally Adapted Honey Bees”. This program will cover how to properly create them; their importance in your bee yard, and how they may be maintained year round.
